It is common for manufacturers, in all industries, to create catalogs of their products. These marketing materials are designed to show the products and the capabilities of the products as well as the strengths of the manufacturers. Many members of the railroad industry followed this practice. As historians and modelers, these materials can be of tremendous value in uncovering mysteries about the prototype. Having access to a catlog from the Mt. Vernon Manufacturing Co. is particularly valuable as much of the material from this builder has been lost over the years.
