The N&W received 1,000 class BP auto cars from Standard Steel Car Co. in 1925, nos. 40000-40999. In the 1930s, the auxiliary doors were sealed making these box cars assigned to Class BPA, although the car numbers remianed the same. In the 1940s, the auxiliary doors were removed and plated over and the main doors werereplaced with Youngstown doors. Ajax hand brakes were also added in the 1940s.
The model is a Sunshine Models kit. Westerfield Carmer cut levers were added. The top grab on the left end of the car side is a "regular" grab, while the bottom is a bracket grab. This is the same manner in which the N&W added the second grab to these cars. The trucks are from Sunshine, as well. Weathering is a combination of artists' oils with Bragdon powders applied overthe oil streaks after a flat coat has been added to the oils.
