In 1929, the Boston & Maine and subsidiary Mystic Terminal received a total of twenty-five box cars built to the Proposed 1923 ARA design. The cars sported some unusual features including, Duryea underframes, panel doors (NOT reverse Creco; there is not any door that was called a reverse Creco door even though modelers have applied the term to a few door prototypes) and seven rung ladders.

The basis for the model is the Red caboose ARA kit. To it, I added Rutland Car Shops cast resin doors (no longer available, although Bethlehem Car Works offers kits of these cars with the same doors) and a Sunshine Models Duryea underframe. In addition, all of the door roller guides are from the Grandt Line Camel door set. I takes many of them to do one of these models. Decals are from Westerfield and Middle Division. A very light wash of Testors Model Master black paint was applied.
