From 1941 through 1945, with a respite during 1943 and 1944, the Chicago & North Western and its subsidiary, the Chicago Minneapolis St. Paul & Omaha, received 5,166 of the Modified 1937 AAR 40' Box Car design. Not only were these cars numerous, but they were easily recognizable for the famous slogan heralds with which they were decorated.
